Hello crafters, creatives, and artists!

This update has taken quite a while to release! Most of the update is behind the scenes and won't be too noticeable.

So, what changed? I switched from a role-based system to a permissions-based system. Basically, it allows more control over who can do what and adds a layer to security. This was an important change as it will be easier to add some features that I want to in the future so stay tuned for that! The admin dashboard was also expanded to make it easier to manage all aspects of the marketplace.

What changes can you look forward to seeing?

The seller sign up process has been completely revamped. Before sellers submitted and application then waited for approval to begin selling their products. Now there is a basic onboarding process that will walk you through getting your shop set up and filling out all the important information before you can begin selling. No more getting dumped to a dashboard after applying and having to figure out what you're supposed to do! Woo! Hoo!

Seller settings were expanded to include shop preferences for weigh and length units and currency. These will autofill on products but can be changed if you so desire. Shipping profiles were added so you can set your shipping costs per region. Then those profiles can be applied to products. This is a massive change from only having one option for shipping cost! A shop QR code generator was added so you can share your shop page easier!

A blog section was also added so helpful articles will be posed there. Think seller and buyer help, market trends, etc. If you would like to write a blog article, please comment here or reach out on Yarnnu!

A currency selector was added to the footer so you can select your preferred currency and see all product prices in that currency.

What can you expect to see next?

Next up we plan to add to seller abilities with the ability to block regions and countries from being able to buy your products. If there is a place you don't want to sell to you won't have to! On the buyer side this means a buyer's country will be detected and they will only see products available to them. Additionally adding the ability to set your shop policies on shipping and exchanges/returns. We also plan on adding a way to take custom orders where you can design your own custom form to get all the information you need without having to ask tons of clarifying questions. As well as continued work on the backend to improve logs, security, and analytics.

What was planned but didn't make it?

A previous post mentioned that we wanted to automatically calculate taxes and shipping. Unfortunately, those didn't make it at this time. Yarnnu isn't at a place yet where having those features would be cost effective or make sense with our current size. Rest assured that once Yarnnu grows a bit those features will definitely be added as that would save your time and be one less thing for you to worry about.
