Yarnnu Update - June 11th, 2025

Hello crafters, creatives, and artists!

Sorry for the long pause in updates and communication! My personal life was pretty busy, so I didn't have a whole lot of time for updates or writing code.

That being said I have been making some progress and changes. First up the new shipping system isn't quite what I hoped it would be. I was meeting with another company so I could add automatic shipping calculation and label creation. Unfortunately, Yarnnu isn't at a point yet where that would be cost effective and it's a bit overkill for where we are right now. I would like to add it in the future, but Yarnnu needs to grow a bit first. I came up with a solution that hopefully works. Please let me know if you'd like to see changes made. I added shipping profiles where you can set up what shipping will cost for different zones e.g. North America, Europe, South America, Asia, Oceania, Africa, and Rest of World. Then when creating a product, you can select the shipping profile you want to use. This requires some more work from you the seller since you'll need to use a shipping calculator to figure out what you'll need to charge (I know pirate ship has one and is fairly popular) but it is significantly better than the old since shipping cost system.

This doesn't really affect anyone noticeably, but I am also working on overhauling the role and permission handling. The current state is not very future friendly and doesn't handle additions very well. The new system will be much more expandable and maintainable and able to handle custom permissions.

I have also been working on adding a blog so expect to see some helpful articles soon on how to set up your shop and using all of the features Yarnnu provides.

Please note these features are not live yet! This is just an update post to let you all know what is going on. I am working on getting them out as soon as I can!
